Also in attendance: Australian Olympic gold-medalist swimmer Ian Thorpe, Princess Diana’s brother, Charles Spencer, Prime Minister David Cameron (no small feat considering Tony Blair and Gordon Brown weren’t invited), Deputy PM Nick Clegg, former PM John Major and leaders from the British Commonwealth, which includes Australia, India and Canada.

And the only thing more handsome than the Himalayan scenery?

Sunday night, a new initiative was announced by Kensington Palace on behalf of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge (William and Kate on this side of the pond) and Prince Harry. After famously watching Kate at a charity fashion show (the pictures are everything), the future King of England was smitten. One $42 blue polka dot maternity dress sold out online within minutes of her visiting a children’s center in London.

Now, parents everywhere are scrambling to copy the little prince’s look. Fans and media camped outside of the Lindo Wing at St. Mary’s Hospital in London awaiting the birth of the royal, whose official title is His Royal Highness Prince George Alexander Louis of Cambridge. Three days after the anniversary, on May 2, their second child, Princess Charlotte, turns 1 year old.

Share your congratulatory messages for the Duke and Duchess in the comments. It’s the couple’s fourth major overseas visit – they’ve previously been to Canada and the United States, the Asia Pacific, and Australia and New Zealand. Furthermore, they added descendants to the royal line in the form of their offsprings, Prince George and Princess Charlotte. A Kensington Palace spokesperson later revealed that George been allowed to stay up late as a special treat to meet the President and wife in order to thank them for their gift, a handsome hand-made rocking horse, which Mr and Mrs Obama had sent to celebrate George’s birth in 2013. So far, Smith thinks, they have handled themselves well, have “not put a foot wrong as the British say”.

After dinner it was time for speeches, with Prince Harry delivering a laugh-inducing best man speech that even included impersonations of the happy couple (apparently Kate calls William “Billy), and of course paid tribute to his and William’s mother Princess Diana”.
