Kate Middleton together with husband and kids will not dine with the Queen or hear her speech as they will be heading straight to the Middleton’s after attending the morning mass with the majestic matriarch.

Tuesday evening’s white-tie Diplomatic Reception is the main ambassadorial social event of the year in London.

Instead of following the royal’s traditional Christmas day schedule of having lunch with the Queen before watching her annual speech, Prince William and Kate Middleton reportedly chose to have a “relaxed and family-oriented lunch” with the Duchess’ parents and siblings instead.

The Queen Mother often wore the Cambridge Lover’s Knot tiara as a young woman before handing it down to her youngest daughter, Princess Margaret.

It’s unclear whether the tiara was returned to the queen when Diana died or if it was passed on to Princes William and Harry. She has only worn tiaras three times in the past, including her wedding day.

The elegant tiara, featuring 19 pearls hanging from a series of diamond-encrusted arches each topped with a lover’s knot design, was one that Diana was frequently pictured in during her lifetime.

Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge carries a bunch of flowers from as she leaves after visiting a GISDA centre during a visit to Caernarfon on November 20, 2015 in Wales.

Tuesday’s occasion marked only the fourth time the 33-year-old duchess has publicly displayed a tiara.

The Duchess was in town with Prince William to man the phones for a good cause, urging people to donate to certain charities.

The Lovers’ Knot tiara looked stunning on Kate, and it was a particularly poignant styling choice. Queen Mary left it to the Queen in her will, and she wore it at multiple events, as did Diana.

It was given to Diana in 1981 on her marriage to Prince Charles. “Others have speculated it’s a thoughtful choice in order to distinguish herself from Princess Diana who was a controversial royal for the family and loved a tiara moment”.
