Kate Middleton Shows Off Her Sailing Skills, Wins Praise For Recycling Outfits

The Duchess of Cambridge is Royal Patron of the 1851 Trust, which is supported by Ben Ainslie Racing, the team to bring the America’s Cup back to where it all began in 1851.

Kate chatted with Sir Ben Ainslie at the event. Her Alexander McQueen ensemble included a silk georgette blouse with navy blue piping and shiny gold buttons paired with a matching wool crepe pencil skirt. She also helped launch the grand opening of the new Tech Deck Education Centre, which will showcase sailing’s innovation, technology and sustainability.
The Tech Deck allows visitors to experience the design principles, construction and on-going operation of the team’s America’s Cup boats first-hand. “It’s great for them to meet her and hear about her sailing and she’s done and where she’s sailed before”.
Many young people we on hand to meet with Kate and eager to learn more about sailing with the patron of the 1851 Trust.
Middleton met with youngsters at a workshop before suiting up to set sail herself.

Kate first of all launched the 1851 Trust’s sailing project being run in partnership with the UKSA and the Andrew Simpson Sailing Foundation, which is based at the Weymouth and Portland Sailing Academy, and see the boats which will be used. Not only that, but Middleton repeated her win during an April 2014 trip to New Zealand, where she again showed William that she’s the better sailor!
