Four new pictures have been released of Princess Charlotte, taken by her mother, the Duchess of Cambridge, for the princess’ first birthday.

Ahead of her special day, Kensington Palace has release special images of the tot, taken by the Duchess of Cambridge at their Anmer Hall home.

The birthday girl – who turns one on Monday – wore a pink cardigan over a attractive floral dress, which was paired with a matching pink bow and shiny black shoes.

A spokesperson for William and Kate said: “The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are delighted to be able to share four new photographs of Princess Charlotte”.

Most recently, she was pictured on her great-grandmother Queen Elizabeth II’s knee in a photograph of the youngest members of the royal family to mark the monarch’s 90th birthday last month.

Meanwhile, the Duchess of Cambridge also had her own recent photo shoot with British Vogue, helping the magazine celebrate its 100th anniversary.

Like previous shots of Charlotte and her big brother Prince George, the latest images were snapped by Kate herself – which is remarkable given the long list of big-name professionals who would line up for the job. Then there was the first family ski trip to The Alps, the first time a species of flower was named in her honor, and her first diamond-encrusted rattle, just to name a few.

This is indeed both a rare and splendid occasion that the royal family has released these photos right before the Princess Charlotte first birthday, giving the world a rare glimpse into their private family life.

Prince William expressed his sentiments about his growing family shortly after Princess Charlotte’s birth. The other three photos were taken indoors and show the princess sitting on a tiny chair in one, standing holding a chair in the other and seated on floor in another.
