Kate Upton’s Tweets: “Sitting During National Anthem Is A Disgrace”

Upton’s tweets blasted the players writing “this is unacceptable” and “we should support each other” on September 11, the 15-year anniversary of the terrorist attacks.

During Sunday’s game against the Seattle Seahawks, Dolphins players Arian Foster, Jelani Jenkins, Kenny Stills and Michael Thomas knelt while the national anthem played.

It’s not necessarily the protests she’s against, Upton wrote; she just really loves The Star-Spangled Banner, and seeing anyone not standing upright with quivering lip while those stars and stripes wave in the glorious breeze of an eagle’s beating wings really sticks in her craw.

On Sunday, Upton took to Twitter and Instagram to express her displeasure after seeing Miami Dolphins players kneeling during the national anthem. Protest all you want and use social media all you want.

And Kate Upton is one of the many people who stands firmly against National Football League players deciding to not stand up during the singing of the Star-Spangled Banner.

Several NFL players followed Colin Kaepernick by refusing to stand on Sunday’s game during the national anthem.

Upton was not happy about the actions of some players, responding with remarks on Twitter. However, Upton’s comment is still similar to her previous statements. She also cited the election of Barack Obama in 2008 as showing that America “is a place where anyone no matter what race or gender has the potential to become President of the United States”. “The lessons of 9/11 should teach us that if we come together, the world can be a better and more peaceful place”.

“We encourage all members of our organization to stand at attention during the national anthem out of respect and appreciation for the freedoms we are afforded as Americans”. We respect these liberties and appreciate the sacrifices that everyone has made for our country, especially on this day of remembrance. Today we are more divided then ever before. The Chiefs’ players chose to stand with interlocked arms instead of kneeling. “I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color”, Kaepernick said last month.
