Some have questioned why there wasn’t a formal funeral for Frank Gifford.

“If you were there you had to be somebody that he adored, so it kept it nice and small.”

The “TODAY Show” host thanked everyone for their unrelenting support. Aside from the NFL team’s tribute, Gifford also talked about plans for a celebration to honor her husband’s life accomplishments.

He would have turned 85 on Sunday, the same day as his wife’s 62nd birthday.

Kathie Lee Gifford responded to her husband’s death on Twitter, saying her faith would carry her forward.

Philbin spoke with People magazine and had touching things to say about Frank.

“We did not have a service for Frank last week”.

Kathie Lee Gifford said the gathering that is still in the planning stages will be “some way to celebrate Frank’s life that the public could come to”.

“He would want you to know that he died in complete peace”, she shared. “He might’ve been the happiest, most contented person in the world at this point in his life”.

It was not his trophies that meant the most to Frank though, according to his wife, but a stone the two brought back after a visit to the Valley of Elah in Israel, where the Bible claims David fought and defeated the giant Goliath.

She went on to open up about his poverty-stricken beginnings and how they impacted the rest of his life. After Philbin heard the news of Frank’s death, he rushed to Greenwich, Connecticut to be by Kathie Lee’s side to mourn with family and friends. She mentioned that the Giants’ will be wearing a No. 16 patch on their helmets this season.
