Kathleen Kane, Pennsylvania Attorney General, Convicted
The email scandal ultimately precipitated the resignations of several high-profile state officials, including two state Supreme Court justices.

Bruised by bad publicity, Kane retaliated by having her office leak information about a 2009 investigation targeting the late J. Whyatt Mondesire, former head of the Philadelphia NAACP, which ended without charges. Kane faces up to 14 years in prison. Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen Kane, escorted by a member of her security team, prepares to leave the Montgomery County Courthouse and await a verdict, in Norristown, Pa., Monday, Aug. 15, 2016.
Actually, let’s back up even further.
In the 2012 attorney general primary, she ran against former Bucks County congressman Patrick Murphy, who was among Barack Obama’s earliest endorsers. Castor said he pledged not to prosecute Cosby in order to secure his testimony in the alleged victim’s civil suit.Cosby’s attorneys argued unsuccessfully that the new criminal case should be tossed based on Castor’s pledge.
Kane lost her law license over the charges and did not seek re-election this year.
The leak grew out of Kane’s feud with former office prosecutor Frank Fina, he said.
Morrow, who had a grant of immunity, said he and Kane devised a cover-up story that framed King for the leak.
In Kane’s mind, we’d later find out, this was just one more example of the old boys club going after her for trying to clean them up. Kane’s lawyers have vowed to appeal the case.
But leaking grand jury information is worthy of its own grand jury investigation. It was only after she swept into office that a state investigation rejected the notion that Corbett purposely delayed taking action.
And when Judge Wendy Demchick-Alloy returned to the courtroom, she turned directly to Ms. Kane with a stern warning, her words slicing through the silence.
Officials made a decision to press charges against Kane, and the trial played out over the past few weeks. Prosecutors said she did it after receiving bad press and then lied about it to a grand jury. King and the consultant, Josh Morrow, testified against Kane last week.
Republican National Committee spokesman Michael Short blasted Hillary Clinton for not disavowing Kane, which he said showed “a troubling abdication of leadership”.
The defense intentionally did not have Kane testify.
And she certainly didn’t exude sympathy for Kane Monday night, in threatening her with an immediate revocation of bail in the event of any direct or indirect reports of retaliation by witnesses in the trial.
Given the verdict, I believe the Attorney General should resign.
“We will continue this litigation we will continue this fight because we believe that our client has been wrongfully accused of misconduct”, Shargel said after the conviction, according to CNN.
Kane, 50, faces a maximum sentence of 28 years in prison when she is sentenced October 24, although it’s highly unlikely she will receive punishment that severe since she has no prior criminal record.

Rep. Daryl Metcalfe, R-Butler County, who had been trying to get Kane impeached long before she was charged in the grand jury case, was unequivocal.
