At the time, Remini wasn’t ready to leave the church, and potentially her family, behind so she said she was then sent to Scientology’s base in Clearwater, Florida for “reprogramming”. The actress had met the then-married couple through her husband, Cuban musician Angelo Pagan, and obliged.
Well, sure – because Holmes, like Remini, finally came to her senses and left the church (and Cruise), even if she hasn’t been as vocal about her reasons.
“My mom was furious and yelled at me, called me the antichrist thought I was this frightful person”, said Cragun.
Leah Remini is speaking out about her former life as a Scientologist, and made sure to mention an incident she faced with a few A-list actors. “I could only assume because they wanted to make Jennifer a Scientologist and maybe I was barring that road for them”. “[And] what she is now saying about Leah”, he hinted on the morning program.
Tom Cruise continued filming for his upcoming action flick, Jack Reacher, in New Orleans on Thursday, October 29, just ahead of Leah Remini’s exclusive tell all 20/20 interview on Friday, October 30. She showed Harris her Scientology textbooks and trophies, walked him through an e-meter reading, and described the church’s so-called “knowledge reports”, in which members report on each other for any behavior that goes against the church or its teachings.
In the 20/20 clip, it’s explained that her mother brought her into the church as a child, and after joining she was quickly brought “on course”. “Because Scientologists view children as spiritual beings, you’re not treated as a kid”, the actress said.
Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise are staying pretty quiet in the face of Leah’s allegations, but Katie has released a statement saying only: “I regret having upset Leah in the past and wish her only the best in the future”.

Despite how hard her time with the church was, Leah told 20/20 that she wouldn’t have traded in her experience for anything.
