Katie Ledecky asserts her dominance again, anchors United States to relay gold
With the win, Phelps tied the record of the most individual Olympic titles set by Leonidas of Rhodes.

Counting her relay swim, Ledecky, 19, has raced eight times in the first five days and covered 1,800 meters.

Allison Schmitt has already won a silver medal with the US 4×100-meter free relay team Rio. Cate was under her own world-record pace at the turn, but had nothing coming back and fell all the way to sixth.
Johnson and Boomer were in the stands to watch Phelps, 31, earn the gold in Tuesday’s 4×200 men’s relay, and, earlier, in the men’s 200-meter butterfly.
Katie absolutely crushed it, powering so fast through the water that by the time she touched the wall and brought victory to her team she was an entire body length ahead of the second place Australians, who had to settle for the silver.
“I believe Michael’s changed the way people think about swimming, he’s motivated people to think differently about the sport, given it a big profile”. He’ll try to become the first swimmer, male or female, to win the same event in four straight Olympics.
Apparently, Phelps lost this particular gold medal during the 200-meter butterfly event in the 2012 Olympic Games in London where South African swimmer Chad le Clos emerged victorious.
“A giant wave hit me pretty hard but you have to play the hand you are dealt with”, Adrian told reporters “It would be great to have gold, but in this day and age, the 100 freestyle is maybe the most fickle event out there”.
Sakai, 10 years younger than Phelps, took silver, just 0.04 seconds, or half a fingernail, behind.
“It’s getting into the race and doing everything I can to just leave it in the pool”, Phelps said. He also captured gold previous year in the World University Games. “I just knew that these three girls were going to put me in a good position to finish it out and I knew I could do it”, she added.
Olympic roommates Michael Phelps and Ryan Lochte maintain a relaxed vibe at the athletes’ village.
In other events Wednesday afternoon, world-record holder Cate Campbell of Australia was top qualifier in the 100 freestyle with an Olympic-record time of 52.78.
Japan’s Natsumi Hoshi claimed the bronze, beating out Cammile Adams of the United States.

Cammile Adams came agonizingly close to getting the US another medal, but she finished fourth in the women’s 200-meter butterfly.
