Katie Ledecky throws out first pitch as Nats host Orioles
She’s pretty good at everything, it seems.

The pitch wasn’t so bad, either. Ledecky was one of a few athletes who stacked medal greatness at the 2016 Rio Olympics. She also did it before the first game of their 2014 NL divisional series against the San Francisco Giants. She then confidently threw the first pitch straight into the glove of Nationals pitcher Shawn Kelley – because after dominating the Olympics, a first pitch is no sweat.
Ledecky said she’s been working on her form, throwing with her neighbors and was confident ahead of Wednesday’s pitch. “Once the ball leaves the hand, you can’t really control it”. The Bethesda, Md. native first did the honors back in 2012 after winning the 800-meter freestyle at the London Olympics at age 15.
Ledecky has thrown out the first pitch at Nationals Park before.
‘I’ve been to a couple world championships, more worldwide meets, another Olympics, I’ve gone through high school, I’m heading out to college. Maybe the 19-year-old somehow found time to practice her baseball skills while out of the pool. She didn’t get any pitching pointers from the players, but they did keep asking to feel how heavy her medals were.
“They all wanted to see how heavy they were and things like that”, Ledecky told the AP. Ledecky will be a freshman at Stanford – alongside swimmers Simone Manuel and Lia Neal – alongside in the fall and plans to take some time off before starting school.

“A lot’s happened in four years”, she said.
