Katy Perry performed ‘Rise’ and ‘Roar’ at the DNC

In contrast, he told the audience that Clinton has devoted her life to helping children, and listening to those who have little money or power.

Perry said: ‘Both of my parents are pastors and staunch Republicans. “You will have as much say as any billionaire”. You can bet that if Hillary Clinton wins the election, Katy Perry will sing at her inauguration.

Perry then unleashed energetic renditions of “Rise” and “Roar” which included slightly altered lyrics for the special occasion.

The singer roused Democatic delegates with two songs suited for such an occasion: the anthemic 2013 hit “Roar,” and the first live performance of that song’s spiritual successor, her new track “Rise”.

The dress Katy Perry wore to the Democratic National Convention was selected because it referenced the stars and stripes of the American flag. In not-very-Katy-Perry-outfit fashion, she donned a glitzy striped gown (can’t lie – we were expecting a bit more from this brazen babe). In 2012, she also performed at multiple events to support President Obama’s campaign.

“I love Hillary, too”, Perry said. Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton received the number of votes needed to secure the party’s nomination. Ted Danson, Mary Steenburgen, Kareem Abdul-Jabaar and Chloe Grace Moretz will be speaking at the convention.

With her electric performance and a supporting beau in the form of Orlando Bloom – who proudly captured the moment from the stands – Perry clearly owned the show on 28 July. See Katy’s powerful DNC performance, below.

She added: ‘So here’s how I’m going to use my voice, I’m going to vote for Hillary Clinton’.
