The comment was credited by analysts and even a few Clinton staffers as a big help to Clinton as the debate shifted in focus toward policy issues and away from Clinton’s upcoming testimony to Congress. The Vermont Senator said his comment was only meant to draw attention away from the controversy and toward other matters, particularly an uneven economy tilted in favor of those already at the top. Well prepared and relaxed Clinton commanded the debate stage.

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie pointed out how the American people are not interested in hearing about “the history of Donald and Carly’s” careers and would rather hear the candidates discuss the issues.

Last night was the first Democratic debate of the 2016 primary elections.

Nobody went after [Hillary Clinton] last night. Lincoln Chaffee made a not-so-veiled reference to the email scandal, saying “I think we need somebody with the best and ethical standards as our next president”.

Then-President Bill Clinton and Cuomo, as his housing secretary, sought the measure to force gun manufacturers to make safer firearms.

But Trump spent the most time retweeting compliments from fans about his debate coverage.

CNN also says that Internet streams of the debate peaked at 980,000, slightly ahead of the 921,000 for its Republican debate on September 16.

Onstage, Sanders conceded that it might not have been “good politics” to shut down debate on Clinton’s State Department emails, but his gambit seems to have paid off, literally.

Lippincott said she’s not sure yet who she’ll vote for among the Republican candidates.

At least she was to a group of 15 supporters who gathered for a watch party at Island Wings in Mobile. “I love Denmark. We are the United States of America”, Clinton chimed in, casting her net wider and presenting herself as a champion of the middle class and small business owners, who she suggested formed the backbone of capitalism. She came away still feeling negative about Clinton and not feeling she knew much about the other four Democratic candidates. Everything was like, ‘This one said that, how do you respond Mr. Trump?’ To be clear, they don’t find Hillary Clinton to be particularly trustworthy or transparent, but that was the case before her email story broke.

Clinton, agreeing with her opponents, said the country needs “a new New Deal for communities of color”.
