Kayleigh, from the village of Measham, was last seen at 6pm on Friday November 13 when her parents dropped her off outside Ibstock Community College, and last made contact with her family on Saturday November 14.
Stephen Beadman, 28, a landscape gardener, was charged with Kayleigh’s murder and rape last night.
Her body was found in undergrowth near a lake in Ibstock on Wednesday, five days after she went missing.
He was remanded in custody and his case was referred to Leicester Crown court where a judge formally remanded him in custody until 18 December when another pre-trial hearing will take place.
Luke Barlow, 27, who is charged with grooming and two counts of sexual activity with a child, also appeared in court.
He spoke only to confirm his name, date of birth, and address.
Outside the gates of the Sence Valley Forest Park, one of the areas where police had been looking for traces of the teenager, bouquets and messages had been left as well as purple ribbons – her favourite colour.
Harlow, dressed in an identical tracksuit to Beadman, also spoke only to confirm his name, date of birth and address. She called her family on the phone the following morning.

Police removed the body from land in Ibstock on Thursday lunchtime and a post-mortem examination will be carried out to confirm the cause of death.
