Keenan Lewis: Steelers could be interested in Keenan Lewis

The cornerback, who was reportedly set to make $2.7 million, shared the news on social media with a farewell message posted to Instagram on Friday.

When healthy, though, the 6-foot-1, 208-pounder was playing at almost a Pro Bowl level as New Orleans’ No. 1 cornerback from 2013-2014. “It’s been and awesome journey”.

“Only thing I asked from coach Payton is, and the organization is, give me an opportunity to play at 100 percent”, Lewis explained. “So I always used that as my motivation every time I see him”. Lewis was dealing with a hip problem this offseason. Payton also noted that he doesn’t view Breaux as a typical second-year player because he played in the CFL after returning from a neck injury that prevented him from playing in college with LSU.

Where will Keenan Lewis end up next?

Don’t be surprised if he seeks to sign with a team that has the New Orleans Saints on their schedule in 2016.

Anthony appeared to put in a full practice and moved without limitations throughout team-related drills. He is heading to a visit Tuesday with his original team, the Pittsburgh Steelers, according to a source.

“When it comes to cornerbacks throughout the NFL, Keenan Lewis might just be one of the most underrated names out there. He is also very familiar with a 3-4 defense after all the time he has spent in New Orleans and Pittsburgh”.

Lewis missed 10 games in 2015 due to a hip/groin injury. When he first arrived in New Orleans in 2013, Rob Ryan was the DC and he looked like a star corner, but Ryan was sacked and replaced with Allen. Before that, he impressed as a young cornerback with the Steelers, who drafted him in the third round out of Oregon State in 2009.

Lewis, 30, was released on Friday, ending a somewhat bittersweet three-year association with his hometown National Football League team. Fowler said the Steelers will be skeptical unless Lewis passes the team’s medical evaluation.
