In the background, police are overheard telling Keith to drop the gun while she tells her husband to comply with their demands.
Police have said Scott refused repeated commands to drop a gun; residents say he was unarmed.
The video was reportedly shot by Scott’s wife and shared with NBC News.
The family’s attorney, Justin Bamberg, said he exposed the video in a bid to prompt Chief Putney to release to the public the footage the agency has of the incident. Police have been reluctant to release dashboard and body camera footage of Scott’s death.
Charlotte Mayor Jennifer Roberts said she believes that the video should be released, but she said it’s a matter of timing. Rakeyia runs up to the scene and asks the police if they shot him. He has no weapon. Police have claimed Keith Scott had a gun and was an “imminent, deadly threat”. Drop the gun! Drop the f**king gun!
RAKEYIA SCOTT: He didn’t do anything.
Officer: Drop the gun. It also doesn’t appear to show whether or not Scott had a gun.
“I’m not going to put out one piece of evidence that could further inflame, and not tell the full story”, Putney said. ” she screamed. “I’m not going to come to you, I’m going to record though!”.
Scott’s wife then tells her husband not to let police break the windows of the pickup truck, and begs him to “come on out the vehicle”. Come on out the vehicle.
RAKEYIA SCOTT: I’m not coming near you.
Charlotte police allowed Scott’s family to view the bodycam footage from the incident on Friday. Keith, don’t you do it, don’t you do it. Keith, Keith, Keith, don’t you do it. Don’t you do it! OFFICER: [muffled] OFFICER:Drop the gun.
RAKEYIA SCOTT:Keith! Keith! Keith! Don’t you do it. Keith!
“Did you shoot him?” she shouts at the officers. “Did you shoot him?” his wife is heard saying. He better not be fucking dead.He better not be fucking dead. I know that f– much. I know that much he better not be dead. “He better not be f-ing dead”, Scott then yells at police.
