“Why they have made a decision to go on mass leave just a day before start of the odd-even scheme”.

Bilkulonline.com, New Delhi, Jan 1: The new confrontation between Delhi’s AAP government and the centre over the suspension of two central officials that triggered a mass protest leave by their colleagues may throw a spanner in the implementation of the ambitious 15-day odd-even vehicle restriction scheme to combat pollution from January 1. “The BJP strongly opposes such harassment of officials and demands Jain’s resignation”, he said. “It declares the suspension order is “non est” (mistake or does not exist) and the two officers should be considered deemed to be on duty”, a senior Home Ministry official said. “DANICS and IAS associations in Delhi have become fullfledged B teams of BJP”, Kejriwal said and suggested replacing bureaucrats with professions and sector experts to “infuse fresh energy and ideas in governance”.

At a press conference, party spokesperson Meenakshi Lekhi accused Aam Aadmi Party of following the strategy of blaming the centre without putting in efforts.

The AAP dispensation called the protest part of a “conspiracy” against the odd-even scheme. It is bound to fail. “DANICS officers are the backbone of the administration here, they are exceptionally reliable and for them to have resorted to going on protest leave, the circumstances must have been extremely grave”. “If you really want to deal with pollution, there are better ways to deal with it”, Lekhi said. It alleged Kejriwal was always looking for conflict to keep the attention away from his failure in providing good governance and said it did not have “right intentions”. Former power secretary Shakti Sinha said, “The Delhi government is not a full-fledged state government and therefore it can not suspend or take action against DANICS and IAS officers”.
