Kellogg recalls some Eggo waffle varieties in U.S. over listeria fear

– The Kellogg Company is voluntarily recalling a limited number of Eggo Nutri-Grain whole wheat frozen waffles because they could be contaminated with listeria. You can also look for the UPC product code on the label.

The Kellogg Company noted the date code is located on the side of the package.

The company identified the possibility of infection during a routine test.

There have not been any reports of illness, but Kellogg is asking consumers to throw away the affected products. The Kellogg Company can be reached at 1-800-962-1413, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m.to 6 p.m.

They were distributed in the following 25 states: Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Massachusetts, Maryland, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, North Dakota, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Vermont, Wisconsin and Wyoming.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, listeria can cause a serious infection usually caused by eating food contaminated with the bacterium Listeria monocytogenes. In pregnant women, listeria can cause miscarriages and stillbirths.

This isn’t the first time that Kellogg’s Eggo brand has faced a listeria recall.
