The latest in a line of food recalls that involve possible contamination with listeria bacteria is a variety of the popular Eggo brand waffles manufactured by the Kellogg Co.

The recalled waffles are in a 10-count box (12.3 ounces) with a “Best if used by” date of November 21, 2017 or November 22, 2017.

The company, which is based in Battle Creek, Mich., said there were no reports of illness, as of Monday.

Kellogg’s Eggo Nutri-Grain Whole Wheat Waffles are the only Eggo products affected by the recall and no other products have been pulled from the shelves.

The company discovered the potential Listeria monocytogenes contamination as a result of routine testing. No other Eggo products are implicated.

The Kellogg Company noted the date code is located on the side of the package.

The potentially contaminated products were distributed to retailers in 25 states. As you might expect, the first thing that came to people’s minds when they heard this news was that they desperately needed to get the word out to Eggo-addicted Eleven. Short-term symptoms in healthy individuals can include high fever, severe headache, stiffness and stomach issues.

Those who have purchased the recalled waffles are advised to throw them away and contact Kellogg for a full refund. No illnesses have been reported to date, but listeriosis, the illness caused by this bacteria, can take up to 70 days to appear. Mostly, listeria affects newborns, elderly people, women who are pregnant, and those with compromised immune systems.
