Kelly Proud of 49ers’ Defensive Performance Against Rams
The 49ers shut the Rams out 28-0 at Levi’s Stadium in what was supposed to be the Rams’ highly anticipated return to Los Angeles for the first time in 22 years. The Rams had 56 rushing yards late in the fourth quarter. Against a 49ers team that was outscored by 149 points over 16 games a year ago – that’s bad – the Rams were shut out 28-0. It’s a long season. “Offensively, it’s not us”. “This is not us”.

Los Angeles had as many punts (10) as first downs.
After gaining only 10 first downs and failing to score all game against a team many consider to be one of the worst in the National Football League, the Rams may wish they had their first-round pick back this year – it may be a top-three pick. Both games stunk, but the clash between the San Francisco 49ers and the Los Angeles Rams was a real doozy.
“I think it’s become so blatantly obvious that athletes and people in general have to react”, Kaepernick said, ESPN reports. “We have some work to do obviously”. The front seven of the Rams was very disappointing in the first half. He said he briefly considered putting in backup Sean Mannion late in the game but made a decision to ride with Keenum to end this game and for at least the near future. With their No. 1 draft pick, quarterback Jared Goff, listed as inactive, according to NFL.com, perhaps personnel management will be even more important to the team. “This doesn’t change anything as far as quarterback is concerned”, the coach said. Hurray! Even if the Rams aren’t good, it’s still much better than not having football. “We need to keep doing what we were doing”.
“There were a lot of positives for us to build upon”, Kelly downplayed Tuesday. “We just can’t have that”.
The 49ers have a shaky quarterback situation with Blaine Gabbert, who avoided major mistakes on Monday but only barely.

Referring to the 49ers blowout, Harlan called the moment “the most exciting thing to happen tonight”. “I didn’t want to try to distract the team; just wants to have my right of freedom”. I’ve never had a sports team taken away from me. But to do that, they’d have to go.500 or better in the last 15 games of the season. The running game could not get anything going and the passing gaming followed suit.
