A source close to Ripa said: ‘Kelly isn’t making any demands.

“I’ve been in the news that I’m leaving this show, it is true”, Strahan said. But I do want to say to all of our viewers out there, everybody who’s watched this show over the last four years…

Later in the show, he paid tribute to his co-host.

Once Strahan departs, the show will return to its tried-and-true method of auditioning guest hosts. “It’s not a eulogy, people”. A source told People magazine that the 45 year old New Jersey native was “completely blindsided” by Strahan’s announcement and made a decision to take the day off, with former “SNL” alum Ana Gasteyer stepping in as temporary replacement. It’s certainly amusing given that this is one of the fluffiest shows in all of late-night. TMZ.com said Strahan had not informed the two until 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, after that day’s episode had shot. Meanwhile Strahan cheerfully discussed his new GMA job in front of “Live’s” studio audience.

“I’ve been in the news lately”, Strahan said.

Variety’s insider perspective of Live’s low-production costs and that it’s supported simply by the good graces of executives somewhat exposes the vulnerability of such a show against Good Morning America, which could add some credibility to the report by Hollywood Life. I can’t ask for better fans… and you guys have been absolutely unbelievable.

The on-screen chemistry between Kelly Ripa and Michael Strahan on Live! has translated into great ratings for the ABC owned-and-operated stations.

Strahan talked about his departure, which isn’t supposed to take place until September, and sent thanks to Ripa, saying, “I love you”.
