Kelly Ripa absent from show day after Michael Strahan’s announces he’s leaving

Variety’s Debra Birnbaum reported on Wednesday that ABC said Ripa will not return until “next Tuesday at the earliest”. “It is an exciting opportunity to be able to bring unique stories and voices to the audience”, Strahan said in a statement. This show has not been around for over 30 years by mistake. “She genuinely feels betrayed”.
Strahan said yesterday on the talk show that he will be joining the cast of “Good Morning America” full-time in September. “Michael Strahan made a comment, whispering to me, ‘Man, I can’t believe I put up with this s***”.
While Strahan didn’t go into detail about Ripa’s absence, he did address his impending departure – and reactions to it. He tried to make light of the uproar.
The same report speculated that Strahan’s addition to “GMA” could portend a third hour for the morning show, a move made by its competitor “Today”. When he confirmed he was leaving, the audience erupted in boos. “So don’t worry, anybody, I’m not going anywhere”. You still continued to give us your eyeballs and watch this show. “Kelly, I thank you, I love you, and everyone else here at ‘Live!'”. “Can’t ask for better fans at all”. Making that announcement back then, Strahan assured Ripa, on air, that his Live! gig was his top priority: “This is what I do”.
At the end of the show he thanked Kelly and executive producer Michael Gelman directly. But Strahan’s departure casts a pall over her, nonetheless.

She didn’t learn he was accepting another job until right around the time Disney (which owns ABC) announced it to the public on Tuesday morning, sending Ripa into an outrage.
