Kelly Ripa needed time to ‘process’ Michael Strahan’s departure, report says
Earlier this week, ABC announced that former New York Giants defensive lineman Michael Strahan would be leaving his job as co-host of “Live!”. “Kelly isn’t shocked that he did this as she’s watched him advance his career off ‘Live ” s success for years now”, a source tells the Daily Mail.

“We are a family and I look forward to seeing you all on Tuesday morning”.
Production sources tell TMZ the “Live!” crew is anxious that her absence will convince ABC to either kill their show, or move it to a later time slot in favor of adding a third hour to to “GMA”. “I am extremely grateful for the incredible support I’ve received from all of the fans”, Strahan said.
“She got [Strahan] started, he stepped over her without an FYI, and now a nice morning show has become ABC’s newest drama”, quipped the source. But dig deeper and it makes sense that she’s reeling from the news that her co-host is leaving her behind. Canadian actress, Shay Mitchell, who is best known for her role as Emily Fields in “Pretty Little Liars”, will be the guest-host with Michael Strahan on Monday. According to Uproxx, Kelly Ripa sent out an email late Friday night regarding her return. In response, a Disney-ABC TV spokesperson told The Hollywood Reporter, “We are committed to ‘Live…’, its fantastic production team, and to Kelly Ripa”. The search for Strahan’s replacement will then begin in earnest. He’s on the show for another four months, but could they even be on-air together? She didn’t know that Michael Strahan was planning to leave the show and apparently felt blindsided and betrayed by the whole thing.
“I really want to thank, of course, Kelly Ripa”, he said during the Live! show.

As previously reported, Strahan has been a part-time anchor on “GMA” for some time now, but he recently landed a lucrative contract to join the show’s roster of anchors full time come this September. “I’m very thankful to her because I learned so much from her and [LIVE producer] Michael Gelman”.
