“I really want to thank, of course, Kelly Ripa, because Kelly welcomed me here and I’ve learned so much from her”, Strahan said on-air. She also will do Friday’s broadcast, which already was scheduled to pre-tape on Thursday.

“She put her neck out for Michael to be a part of the show four years ago”, the source added.

Ripa was trending on Twitter today after she was a no-show for this morning’s show. Disney executives have not commented on any extended absence from Ripa. She is very hurt that Disney hasn’t even spoken to her yet so they are assuming that she isn’t coming back’. Strahan and Gasteyer cheerfully discussed the news of his new job.

Michael Strahan is trying his best to do damage control! The daytime host will not return to the show until next Tuesday at the earliest, Variety Editor Debra Birnbaum said on Twitter Wednesday. The only one who has said anything is Strahan and he had glowing things to say about his co-host. The departing co-host addressed the situation diplomatically. If she doesn’t, look forward to new episodes of “Live with Ana and an Empty Chair”.

Kelly Ripa was absent from “Live” on Wednesday after it was announced that Michael Strahan was leaving the show to join “GMA” full-time.

“Kelly, I thank you, I love you and everyone else here at ‘Live, ‘” Strahan said. “I’m not going anywhere”. Sources confirm to EW that a strained relationship exists between Strahan and Ripa, who is now threatening to stay away from the program for an undetermined amount of time.

“Kelly’s off today”, Strahan said briskly, introducing Gasteyer to the screaming fans in the audience.
