Since 2014, Strahan has appeared on GMA twice a week while simultaneously co-hosting Live!

“Kelly told ABC she wasn’t coming in last night”, People reported.

Michael Strahan is going to be without his co-host for a least a week after his brutal decision to not warn her about his impending departure from the show. This will either push Live! to a different time slot or it will go off the air, according to rumors.

E! News quotes media expert Brian Stelter, host of CNN’s “Reliable Sources”, telling the publication today that Ripa, who has been with the show for 15 years, is “beyond angry”.

Although the long-running show’s fate is anyone’s guess, loyal fans are certain that the two still have a long career in television. She showed him all the ropes and did not allow others to criticize him. For whatever reason, nobody seems to leave this show without there being some sort of hoopla. In February, Michael referred to Ripa as his “work wife” in that they were extremely close and the job never felt as much like true work as it did merely having a good time with one of his best friends.

Strahan made no mention of Ripa in his remarks, but later spoke about his co-host at the end of the program.

Following their 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. EST broadcast, Strahan pulled Ripa and Executive Producer Michael Gelman aside at 10:30 to inform them that he would be leaving Live for GMA, sources connected with the production of the show told TMZ. Kelly, I thank you.

An insider told People that Ripa was “blindsighted” by the former National Football League star’s announcement.

Having addressed some of the reactions to his imminent departure – with some reports being “like I died” – he also acknowledged Ripa personally.

There could be some awkwardness when she returns: Strahan’s transition plan announced Tuesday didn’t have him starting fulltime on “GMA” until September.
