Ken Starr To Resign As Chancellor Of Baylor University

Ken Starr, who previously served as Baylor’s president before being reassigned to chancellor, has told ESPN’s Joe Schad that he is resigning from that position.

Baylor, a Christian university, removed Starr as its president last Thursday after unveiling the results of an independent investigation that showed a “fundamental failure” to respond adequately to student sex assault allegations, including some involving players for the Texas school’s rising football program.

Baylor officials were not immediately available for comment. His probe widened to include Clinton’s sexual relationship with White House intern Monica Lewinsky, and led to Clinton’s impeachment by the House of Representatives.

“It’s not happening on campus to the best of my knowledge”, he said.

He said he’ll continue to teach at Baylor’s law school. Many campuses across the country had far more rape and sexual assault reports in 2014 than Baylor. But the summary included few details; the school said it has not yet received a written report from the law firm, Pepper Hamilton of Philadelphia.

Starr goes on to say the university owes it “to every student that he or she, mostly she, is absolutely protected and that we’ve done all that we can”.

Starr said repeatedly during the interview that he accepts responsibility for what happened at Baylor, while also insisting that he was “behind the veil of ignorance”.

Until last week, Starr held the job of president and chancellor.

Starr was Baylor’s president and chancellor before being stripped of his duties as president last week by the school’s Board of Regents. The school also didn’t provide sufficient support to victims who reported those assaults, the report said.

Still, he said, “the captain goes down with the ship”. And another football player, Tevin Elliott, had already been sentenced to 20 years in prison for sexual assault at the time.
