Kendrick Lamar dominates Grammy Awards nominations – Taylor Swift receives 7 nods
The nominations, which were announced Monday morning, also recognized Taylor Swift and the Weeknd with seven each.

The Grammys will be awarded in Los Angeles on February 15.
Following Lamar, Swift and Weeknd as nominations leaders are songwriter is producer Max Martin with six noms.
Joining Lamar, Swift and the Weeknd in the Album of the Year contest are “Sound and Color” by Alabama Shakes, as well as one big surprise: “Traveller” by Chris Stapleton, who recently swept the CMA Awards.
Also up for Song of the Year is Little Big Town’s “Girl Crush” and “See You Again” by Whiz Khalifa featuring Charlie Puth.
For Record Of The Year, Ed Sheeran (Thinking Out Loud) is up against Taylor Swift (Blank Space), D’Angelo And The Vanguard (Really Love), Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars (Uptown Funk) and The Weeknd (Can’t Feel My Face).
In another closely watched category, Meghan Trainor has been nominated for Best New Artist along with country singer Sam Hunt, Tori Kelly and two worldwide artists, United Kingdom singer, songwriter James Bay, and Australian Courtney Barnett. Swift’s “1989” is one of the year’s best-selling albums.
Another notable nominee is the is the rock band Alabama Shakes. The band has four nominations this this year. Stapleton additionally earned nods within the country classes of best country album, best county solo performance & best country song for the title track. Miguel Zenon’s “Identities Are Changeable” leads the Latin jazz album nominees, which also includes Eliane Elias, Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Wayne Wallace and the Rodriguez Brothers. Kirk Franklin, Tasha Cobbs, Anthony Brown & Group Therapy earned nominations in the Gospel/Contemporary Christian Music categories.
Lorde was not among the nominees: her only new music release of the year – a collaboration on Disclosure’s single “Magnets” – missed out on a nod. The well-crafted album is as good as country music got in 2015.

Justin Bieber – who marked a comeback this year with the hits “Sorry” and “What Do You Mean” – is nominated for best dance recording for his other hit, “Where Are U Now” with Skrillex and Diplo. Other nominees in that category are Patti Smith (Blood On Snow), Dick Cavett (Brief Encounters), Jimmy Carter (A Full Life) and Janis Ian & Jean Smart (Patience and Sarah).
