Kennedy passes Byron to win NASCAR Truck race at Bristol
Race distance: 300 laps, 159.9 miles. He’s hoping to come home with a solid performance and, perhaps, his first career Sprint Cup win to secure a spot in this year’s “playoff” field.

Edwards had a fast lap of 131.407 miles per hour on the concrete surface of the half-mile track.
Dillon’s younger brother, Ty Dillon, made it a three-car race as he mixed it up between the two Sprint Cup champs.
The driver of the No. 22 Team Penske Ford is going for his third straight win in the prestigious short-track event. Austin did a good job tonight of keeping his head and hanging in there. Then just as suddenly Keselowski ran out of gas during the caution – leaving a happily surprised Dillon out front to win the Xfinity race in overtime Friday night. It was known as the Irwin Tools Night Race since 2010 before this year’s name change. As a result, he now resides in fourth place in the Xfinity Series point standings. Paul Menard ($6,800) has also done well at Bristol in recent seasons, posting six Top 10s and 10 Top 20s in 18 career tries while averaging a 17.2 AFP. The trio were the point three often as well.
Cole Custer finished sixth, Bell wound up seventh after leading just over half the race, John H. Nemechek was eighth, Brandon Jones ninth, and John Wes Townley finished 10th. “I turned the 19 (Suarez). It’s unfortunate. I feel bad for Daniel and I feel bad for this team and my guys”. “We can create more competitive racing, better racing”. “I thought we were a top-15 truck or a top-10 truck, but to actually be here in Victory Lane means the world to me”.
Kurt Busch is another driver who adapted well to Bristol right out of the box and the track seems to fit his style of racing. Teammate Brad Keselowski ($10,200) also has a pair of Bristol victories under his belt with four Top 5s and 499 laps led while posting a 14.6 AFP.
If you take the lead, you can see the fans the next lap cheering you on.
But it’s a much different Thunder Valley after the bottom groove of the racetrack met the grinder to match the outer groove, which should make for more passing and an interesting 500 laps. Busch went for it anyway and when Keselowski refused to give the final inch, Busch collected the outside wall and Ty Dillon behind him.
“I can’t put it into words”, Kennedy said. He placed last at Watkins Glen and had two 35th-place finishes, one at Pocono in June and the other at Daytona in July. “But we won’t know until we get into the race what line is going to be the winning line”. However, things aren’t so black and white for the final member of the checkered flag gang. I appreciate him racing me clean. “We had to go all the way to the back and drove through the field twice”. Darlington is decent, so I’ve got some good ones to make some points up. “I wish I had another lap or two”. The spurt didn’t last and Biffle has ended 39th, 25th and 39th the past three races.

“It’s been frustrating since they ground the track surface and I haven’t figured that out yet”, Busch said.
