Kentucky coach: 76ers shouldn’t take Simmons with number one pick

The Celtics had the third-most attempts from downtown last season but shot just 33.5 percent from beyond the arc, ranking 28th in the National Basketball Association.

Welcome to Draft Days, an intimate, behind-the-scenes look into the life of an National Basketball Association prospect in the weeks leading up to the draft.

That shooting help could come from Kentucky guard Jamal Murray, who held a solo workout for the Celtics on Wednesday afternoon.

According to Adam Himmelsbach of the Boston Globe, Murray worked out for the Boston Celtics on Wednesday, and had an impressive showing.

Jamal Murray doesn’t lack for confidence.

“I think every player should be thinking about going to Kentucky”, he told reporters in Boston. Murray also contributed 5.1 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game, while shooting.456 from the field, .788 percent from free-throw line and a sparkling.421 percent from three-point range.

John Calipari dropped a mini bombshell as to who the 76ers actually like the most in this year’s National Basketball Association draft.

“I’ve got to play 100 times better than that”, he said, dismissing any notion he’s slowed by injuries. That’s just the competitive spirit I have.

“As a child, I was competitive in whatever it was – first one to eat your wings, first one to run to the door”.

“We finally got back to our game”, said James, whose energy from the start electrified 20,000 fans, and most importantly his teammates.

My dad is the person who taught me how important the mental side of the game is. “I used that to my advantage”. With that said, if the Sixers for some reason had to take someone other than Simmons or Ingram with the first pick, I would definitely consider Murray in that weird hypothetical. He’s a bit of a tweener, not exactly a point guard while a little undersized for a two-guard, much like a handful of other guards on the current Boston roster. “They kind of had one more spot to go”, Murray said.

“I shot awful in the first two spots”, he said. “Going against guys like Avery Bradley, Isaiah Thomas – small defensive guards”. “Marcus Smart is always very physical and can help me offensively”. “I just want to go to the right team”.

“I would have done the same thing”, Curry said. He wanted to play, but is still in the NBA’s concussion protocol and has not yet been cleared to return by league and team doctors.
