Kentucky tops in-state rival Louisville
On Saturday, Rick Pitino and Louisville were bested by the Kentucky Wildcats in Lexington by a score of 75-73, and Pitino was out-coached by his counterpart John Calipari down the stretch.

The Wildcats then committed a shot-clock violation to give Louisville one more chance. We werent really playing our game.
In a text message to ESPN, the coach said the gesture “was a, ‘we r #1′”.
Pitino didn’t speak after the game, but a team spokesperson addressed the incident with reporters, claiming that Pitino stuck out his index finger as if to say “We’re No. 1”, according to The Associated Press. A native of Chicago, Ulis finished with a career-high 21 points and added a game-high eight assists in the Cats’ 75=73 win.
“And this was against a really good team”.
Lee, who played for Drexel for three seasons, has been one of Louisville’s most efficient players this year. Alex Poythress scored 14 points for Kentucky.
“He keeps us composed, he’s the guy that we go to if we need anything”, junior guard Dominique Hawkins said.
Kentucky freshman guard Isaiah Briscoe, considered a key component with his defensive ability to shutdown Louisville’s Lee, suffered a left ankle injury during warmups, about an hour before the game.
In the latest installment of the rivalry, Calipari and Rick Pitino both received technical fouls late in the first half. “I really believe having Christmas off for these guys was great”, Calipari said. A school spokesman said Pitino was doing a radio interview at the time.
As a result of the scandals, Pitino, who denied any knowledge of the activities Powell alleges in her book, has been speaking less to the media this season than any other – he had Willard speak in other postgame news conferences this season, including the Cardinals’ other loss against Michigan State. “He controlled it, he gave a lot of other people shots, and he made a lot of tough shots”.
A fan posted a fuzzy video after the game of Pitino making a gesture toward the crowd as he headed toward the locker room. Only Clair Bee, who earned 200 wins in his first 231 games at Long Island University from 1931-41, did it faster. Kentucky was once No. 1 and had fallen to No. 12. Lee scored a game-high 27 points for the Cardinals.
Guard Trey Lewis, another fifth-year player, followed Lee on the U of L scoresheet with 15 points, and sophomore forward Chinanu Onuaku had nine points and 10 rebounds.
