Stanley Biwott powered to the biggest victory of his career at the New York Marathon, while there was a sense of deja vu as his Kenyan compatriot Mary Keitany defended the women’s title.

Exactly how Athletics Kenya will pick its representatives remains unclear.

The TCS New York City Marathon is the premier event of New York Road Runners (NYRR) and the largest marathon in the world. “If he was ever going to run a marathon he said he wanted to do it here first”, she said as she waited with her two sons and Jamie’s relatives at the 17.5 mile mark on the Upper East Side.

He was greeted by his family at the finish line, as well as two-time Australian Open champion Victoria Azarenka, who had promised on Twitter to bring Blake a milkshake when he finished.

Paul Bedward, of Sydney, Australia, noted the unique intangible quality the NYC Marathon has over other races.

“You grew up wanting to be a Yankee and it doesn’t happen”, said Scotto, who is based at Engine 92 in the Bronx. “Marathon is more about preparation and training”. “I’d love to represent (Kenya) and be in the Olympics. He said go get ’em”, said Berni. American Meb Keflezghi finished seventh in 2:13:52, setting a new master’s record by 20 seconds.

Four hours before he ran off with the New York City Marathon, Kenya’s Stanley Biwott lay on the floor of a Staten Island athletic complex snoozing, his head resting on a plastic bag with a few extra clothes and snacks. Kamworor won the silver medal in the 10,000 meters at the world championships in August.

“In the London Marathon, there was no visible security”, Bedward said. Tufa tightened and drifted back, and the once-fearsome Kenyan Priscah Jeptoo was also history. Tufa couldn’t stick with the pace and was caught by Mergia, while Moreira finished fourth in 2:25:53, just over a minute ahead of Daunay. That inspired Berni last November to try to run New York. This year’s version, which measured roughly 6 feet by 4 feet and weighed three ounces, featured advertisements for United Airlines, Foot Locker and Tata Consultancy Service, the marathon’s title sponsor. She set a new course record with an official time of one hour 35 minutes and six seconds.
