Kerala Assembly election on May 16
Election Commission officials will attend a crucial meeting here on Friday to decide the dates of Assembly elections in five states–Assam, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Kerala and Puducherry.

Votes polled in all five states will be counted on May 19, Zaidi told media persons here.
With the announcement of the dates, the Model Code of Conduct will automatically come into force in the state till the election results are declared.
“Assam: 1.98 crore, Kerala: 2.56 crore Tamil Nadu: 5.80 crore, West Bengal: 6.55 crore, Puducherry: 9, 27,000”, he added.
The single-phase elections for Tamil Nadu and Puducherry assemblies will be held on May 16, the CEC said.
Polling will be held from 4 April to 16 May. Photographs of all candidates will be present on the EVMs to eliminate confusion for voters. The second phase polling will be held on April 17, third on April 21, fourth on April 15, fifth on April 30 and sixth on May 5. The election will be held in one phase and the election will be held in all 140 constituency at one go.
Election to be held on 824 Assembly constituencies. The results of West Bengal Assembly Elections will be declared on May 19. As per the schedule, the elections will take place in multiple phases and the process will begin from April 4, 2016.
Polling is likely to be held in minimum five to six phases between mid-April and mid-May. All constituencies will go on poll on May 16. The date for withdrawal of nomination is May 2.
“Around 100 companies have already been moved to the poll-bound states for advance deployment”, said the functionary. Tamil Nadu has 234 seats and the union territory of Puducherry has 30 assembly seats.
