According to Sanjay Guruddin, Superintendent of Police, Kannur 36 year old C.V. Dhanaraj, a CPI (M) worker hacked to death by an unidentified gang at his home Kunnaru village, near Payyannur at 10 pm. The gang, which arrived in three motorcyles, was following Danaraj on his way home. The victim died on the way to a hospital near Kannur. Assailants reportedly first threw crude bombs near his house, creating a panic before hacking Ramachandran. The houses and shops of some local BJP and RSS workers also came under attack. He was declared dead upon arrival at the hospital. Ramachandran was a leader of the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh leader, the labour wing of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh.
Tension has gripped the region once again after the two political murders.
“Centre will intervene if attacks on BJP workers by the CPI-M activists continued in Kerala”, he told reporters in Kozhikode.

The killings are suspected to be a fallout of the political rivalry between BJP and CPI(M) in the state. These murders have gained impetus after the Kerala Assembly elections in the past months.
