In a shocking incident, a 25-year-old youth died after he was severely beaten up with sticks in broad daylight by a four-member gang at Vakkom in the district today, police said. The deceased was identified as Shabeer (23) of Manakkat house in Vakkom.

A video showing four men brutally assaulting a youth with sticks in Kerala has gone viral on social media.
In the video which was put up on Facebook yesterday, a voice can be heard crying out saying, “Poor man, leave him”.
According to report, Shabeer was witness to crime committed by four men, last year, and accused reportedly took revenge by killing him.
A video visual, flashed on Sunday by news channels, and the source of which has been kept under wraps by the police, shows the brutal attack, which begins with Shabeer and Unnikrishnan being thrashed and pushed off a motorbike driven by Shabeer.
Shabeer was immediately rushed to the hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries by then.
Unnikrishnan sustained serious injuries and is undergoing treatment at Thiruvananthapuram Medical College.

They repeatedly beat up Shabeer until he lay lifeless on the ground; the attackers then turned their attention to the pillion rider and beat him up too.
