Kerr Responds To Stephen A. Smith’s Account Of Draymond Green’s Tantrum

Russell Westbrook #0 of the Oklahoma City Thunder is forced to pass the ball after Draymond Green #23 and Klay Thompson #11 of the Golden State Warriors trap him during the overtime period of a National Basketball Association game at the Chesapeake Energy Arena on February 27, 2016 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. As ever, Golden State looks on the same page.

ABC sideline reporter Lisa Salters reported a player she believed to be Draymond Green went on a profanity-laced tirade at halftime of the Warriors-Thunder game Saturday night.

Green said after practice Monday: “I admit my mistakes”. “My mistake, I didn’t see him in the locker room”. “I admitted my mistakes to my teammates and my coaching staff”. Green didn’t get into what exactly happened, but maintained he didn’t say he wouldn’t play the second half.

Earlier on Monday, Stephen A. Smith of ESPN’s “First Take” claimed that Green was directing his anger at Warriors Coach Steve Kerr. During the week, Curry also set the league record for 3-pointers in consecutive games (now 129) and became the first player in league history to make double-digit 3-point baskets in back-to-back games. He responded — he said he was still mad — after his halftime debacle, finishing with 14 rebounds, 14 assists, six steals and two points against the Thunder.

“He’s invested in what we’re doing”.

Draymond Green is all about the rings, no foreplay. It’s something where my emotions kinda got ahead of me and I let my emotions get the best of me.

During his tirade, Green reportedly said that he isn’t “a robot” and that he felt as though the coaches didn’t want him to shoot. “That’s not going to stop me from leading this team”. “I would never quit on my coaching staff, I would never quit on this organization”. So I have supported and represented this organization to the best of my ability. In this instance, you’d assume that Green has built up enough goodwill in the Golden State locker room that this can just blow over.

Kerr said the Warriors have to expect these kinds of dissections in today’s media climate.

“We’re in the spotlight because of our record”. “It doesn’t bother us that everyone’s talking about it. We know it was handled internally”. “Draymond and I have probably gotten into it three or four times, and every time he apologizes within a minute because he has such a heart of gold”. “We’re in shambles right now”.
