Kerr shoots down Robertson’s claims that older era would contain Curry

“I was fortunate to play with Michael Jordan and just about every night I was awestruck”, Warriors coach Steve Kerr said Thursday in Orlando, after Curry’s shot from midcourt was the highlight of a 51-point night. Curry drained his first 3-pointer midway through the first quarter to set a league mark with 128 consecutive games with at least one trey. He sat out the first six minutes of the fourth, added a 3 and a layup down the stretch and also finished with eight assists and seven rebounds.

The Warriors have won 52 games and lost five – Chicago Bulls hold the season record of 72-10 in 1995-96.

Stephen Curry once again led the Golden State Warriors to a win behind a monster effort.

Curry’s 3-pointer from half court seemed to be the straw that broke the Magic’s spirit.

Thaddeus Young added 18 points, eight rebounds and seven steals for the Nets.

Marreese Speights came off the bench to score 14 points.

The Magic led at halftime, but they never seriously challenged in the fourth quarter as the Warriors pulled away.

“I have a hard time seeing how his streak’s ever going to end”, Skiles said before the game. The Magic went up by as much as six before ending the half with 63-59 lead over Golden State.

He scored 24 points in the third period, including his long bank shot as the buzzer sounded.

“That first half we were just passive”, Harden said.

Russell Westbrook scored 44 points and Kevin Durant 32 for Oklahoma City, which trailed by 12 with a little more than 3 minutes left but got as close as two on Durant’s 3 with 13 seconds left.

Evan Fournier led Orlando with 20 points. There were more than 150 people around the court just before 6 p.m. Wednesday — a lot of them with phones in hand, poised to snap photos or take some video — when Curry took the floor to warm up in Miami.

Upon leaving the floor Curry had signed his game worn sneakers and made sure they reached a Warriors fan in the front row who was celebrating his birthday.

To do this, Kerr forced his players through rudimentary passing drills that sound better suited for grade-school children learning the fundamentals of basketball than for a team professional athletes at the apex of the sport. Golden State is 14-1 on the second night of back-to-back games. Curry has won, and he’s pushing the game beyond limits we even considered, all the while looking exactly like someone who wouldn’t. The Magic had better balance early with Oladipo getting 12 points and Vucevic 11 before intermission. I think I was at 40 or 45. He lines them up from near the logo before games. “They scored more than us”.
