“In the evening of July 14 Kerry will travel to Moscow where he will begin a series of meetings with senior Russian officials to discuss Syria, Ukraine, Nagorno Karabakh, among other issues”, “Armenpress” reports, Kirby said.

A frustrated US Secretary of State John Kerry is heading back to Moscow once again to meet President Vladimir Putin and test his commitment to the stalled Syrian peace process.

Such a scenario appears highly unlikely, but USA options are limited.

Pentagon officials simply don’t trust Russian Federation, as they believe Moscow will take advantage of the arrangement to support the existing Syrian regime of Bashar al-Assad and further obliterate what’s left of the Syrian rebel groups.

The U.N. says nearly 600,000 people are under siege, mainly by government forces, in 18 locations across Syria. Assad has reasserted control over several areas of the country he had once lost. And a coordinated U.S. -Russia bombing campaign could further exploit Islamic State weaknesses, shrinking its territory and ability to attack.

Russian Federation has been a major ally of Assad while the United States, which backs rebels seeking to overthrow Assad, has called for him to leave power. USA and Russian officials with expertise in intelligence, targeting and air operations will “work together to defeat” the extremist groups, the eight-page paper states.

The Islamic State and Jabhat al-Nusra are terrorist organizations banned in Russian Federation.

The Russian and American militaries have established communications channels to reach each other in emergencies, and also notify each other of their whereabouts on the ground. You have now viewed your allowance of free articles.

The Washington Post reported Thursday that Washington was to offer to cooperate with Russian Federation in joint military action against the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL, also known as ISIS) and the Syrian branch of Al-Qaeda, Al-Nusra Front.
