Kerry says Hiroshima anniversary underscores importance of Iran nuclear deal

Defence secretary Ashton Carter has asserted that the nuclear agreement “places no limit” on the use of US forces to defend its interests and those of its allies. This deal seriously jeopardizes Israel’s security, which is something I care deeply about. I am in close contact with friends and family, and follow the news about the Iranian nuclear program and the threats from terrorist organizations like Hamas and Hezbollah with deep apprehension.

“Intelligence officials and lawmakers who have seen the new evidence, which is still classified, told us that satellite imagery picked up by U.S. government assets in mid- and late July showed that Iran had moved bulldozers and other heavy machinery to the Parchin site and that the U.S. intelligence community concluded with high confidence that the Iranian government was working to clean up the site ahead of planned inspections by the IAEA”. Iran has aging, Russian-designed missiles.

US Secretary of State John Kerry said today the US atomic bombing of Hiroshima underscored the importance of the Iran nuclear deal and disarmament in general, as Japan marked the attack’s 70th anniversary.

“She’s a great witness to the human spirit and to our ability to reconcile after war“, Kerry said, describing today’s U.S. relationship with Japan as “one of the most important that we have in the world“. Kerry continued: “I don’t know the answer to that”. Obama has said he will veto a vote of disapproval, and Senate Republicans would need at least 13 Democrats to override that presidential action.

Goldberg: Wipe it off the map.

In order to rollback Iran’s regional influence, in a significant reversal, the Kingdom has now reached out to affiliates of the Brotherhood in Syria and Yemen to make them a part of the national political process.

Second, this deal will provide worldwide nuclear inspectors with access that they otherwise would not have had – and never will have if we reject this agreement. But there is no room for the thoughtless ranting we’ve been hearing – nor is it a time to play politics with such an issue.

Signed in Vienna earlier this month, the 159-page document states Iran must reduce its centrifuges from 19,000 to 6,104 for the next ten years. “I want to judge the deal on the merits and the merits alone”.

“No reasonable person questions whether President Obama actually wants the Iranian regime to take possession of a nuclear weapon”.

The son of Iran’s main negotiator sitting opposite the table from Kerry was best man at the wedding of Kerry’s daughter a few years ago, according to the report by Michele Hickford, editor in chief for the AllenBWest.com website. “In fact, Zarif had served as the Permanent Representative of Iran to the United Nations from 2002 to 2007, under the Khatami and Ahmadinejad regimes”. Would Israel be similarly antagonistic towards the Jordanians becoming a threshold nuclear state, or the Danes or the Bolivians-or even Saudi Arabia? Kerry is tragically dismissive of this fear. I will do everything I can to defeat this deal, and I encourage everyone to do the same. The administration and a media rely on partisan front groups like J-Street to create the impression that there’s some big debate among the pro-Israel organizations about the wisdom of the Iran deal. The problem isn’t talking. We should be seeking ways to screw the Ayatollah, not fretting about it. Then again, as the photo above might remind you, it’s always been Kerry’s reflex to look out for the interests of America’s enemies at our expense. We will begin robust worldwide monitoring of Iran’s nuclear supply chain – uranium production, plants that convert uranium into a centrifuge-ready gas, centrifuges, uranium stockpiles, and spent nuclear fuel that contains plutonium – and inspectors will retain the right to request access to suspicious sites forever.

You're either with us or against us. And by'us' I mean me and John Kerry
