Kerry says world determined to stop NKorea’s nuclear plans
South Korean Foreign Minister Yun Byung-se (far R) applauds as he joins a group photo session with top diplomats from almost 30 Asia-Pacific countries and regional powers before this year’s ASEAN Regional Forum starts at the National Convention Center in the Laotian capital of Vientiane on July 26, 2016.

Some analysts say North Korea has developed a handful of crude nuclear devices and is working toward building a warhead small enough to mount on a long-range missile capable of reaching the continental U.S. However, South Korean defense officials say the North has neither such a miniaturized warhead nor a functioning intercontinental ballistic missile.
“Now I will hear what Minister Yun has to say”.
Ballistic missile test: China released the footage of the original test on the heels of the US and South Korea agreeing to deploy the Terminal High Altitude Area Defence (THAAD).
Footage of the original test has been released on the heels of the US and South Korea agreeing to deploy the Terminal High Altitude Area Defence (THAAD) anti-missile system before the end of next year.
“THAAD is most certainly not a simple technical issue, but an out-and-out strategic one”, the Chinese FM said late on Sunday, having met with his counterpart on the sidelines of the conference of foreign ministers from the 10-member Association of South East Asian Nations that was organized in Laos’s capital, Vientiane. Russian Federation also opposes the deployment.
The South Korean Defence Ministry said the THAAD system would be deployed in the southeastern county of Seongju to maximize its effectiveness while minimizing any impact on residents and the environment.
Seoul announced that data obtained by THAAD radars will not be shared with Tokyo. Last November Japan’s defense minister, Gen Nakatani, said he would consider deployment of American THAAD systems in the country, also to counter the North Korean ballistic missile threat.
Tension on the Korean peninsula has been high since North Korea conducted its fourth nuclear test in January and followed that with a satellite launch and a string of test launches of various missiles.
North Korea’s military on Monday threatened to retaliate against the deployment of the system with a “physical response” once its location and time of installation were decided.
