Earlier on Sunday, an Israeli settler ran over, shot and killed a young Palestinian woman in the West Bank.

Also killed was a Palestinian man, but police said it was unclear if he was hit by the attacker’s fire or that of Israeli forces.

One Israeli suffered serious wounds and three others, including a 13-year-old girl, were in moderate condition, a hospital official said, as police continued to search for the unknown assailant who fled the scene.

The attempted attack took place at a junction near the IDF’s Samaria Brigade headquarters in the northern West Bank.

Tensions in the occupied Palestinian territories have dramatically escalated since the Israeli regime’s imposition of restrictions on the entry of Palestinian worshipers to the al-Aqsa Mosque compound in East al-Quds (Jerusalem) in August.

“Forces and a bystander responded to the the immediate threat, shooting the attacker”, an IDF statement read.

The Palestinian government said in a statement that Israel was carrying out unlawful killings and “accusing every victim of holding a knife” or ensuring a knife was dropped at the side of alleged attackers. More than 30 Palestinians have been killed in clashes with Israeli security forces.

He aims to discuss ways of trying to stem the latest wave of violence, which has been ongoing since October 1. The unrest quickly spread throughout Israel, the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.

On Saturday, the Israeli military raided a Palestinian radio station in Hebron and confiscated equipment it said was being used to broadcast calls to attack Israelis.

A military spokeswoman confirmed the clashes but said they were looking into the report about the fireman.

Israel says the current spate of violence is due to a Palestinian campaign of lies and incitement surrounding the sensitive holy site.
