Kesha forced to keep recording with Dr. Luke, judge rules

Claiming that all of her accusations were lies, Dr. Luke accused Kesha, her mother, and her entire (new) management team of spreading false information about him just to get out of Kesha’s binding recording contract with him.

Kesha broke down in tears in Manhattan Supreme Court Friday when a judge denied her request for a preliminary injunction that would have temporarily nullified her contract with Sony Records. In the run-up to her Friday appearance in court, she’s used Instagram to think fans and narrate some of the emotions she’s felt as that pivotal moment approaches. Dr. Luke reportedly invested $60 million in Kesha’s career and said that she was, in fact, allowed to record without his involvement.

The Tik Tok singer’s lawsuit, filed in Los Angeles, accuses the hit-making producer of subjecting her to years of sexual and emotional abuse which led her to develop a severe eating disorder that required her to enter rehab earlier this year. Her attorneys have told the judge that the careers of pop stars are short and that if an injunction doesn’t issue, the irreparable harm she faces is a ruined career. In one, she declared “I have nothing left to hide”.

A lawyer for Sony added: “Our interest is in her success”.

‘They’ve been my rock through the last two years of my life and I’m, like, so grateful.

The producer, who has also worked with the likes of Shakira, Pink, Katy Perry and Miley Cyrus, denies all her allegations.

Kesha’s lawsuit alleges that the singer didn’t report the abuse to anyone out of fear of retaliation and seeks to invalidate recording agreements she signed with Dr Luke and his recording company when she turned 18. I did this because the truth was eating away my soul and killing me from the inside. this is not just for me. this is for every woman, every human who has ever been abused. sexually. emotionally. mentally.
