Kevin Durant Explains Why He Joined Warriors

It was real. It was feelings I couldn’t ignore.

“Nothing in this league is easy”, he said. I felt like it was time for it, and I made the decision.

“I haven’t made the decision, but he might start”, coach Steve Kerr teased.

A beaming Kevin Durant was officially introduced as a Warriors player on Tuesday, and the latest addition to Golden State’s star-packed roster admitted he “felt as comfortable as I’ve ever felt” when he met his new team-mates for the first time. “I’m committed. I’m looking forward to a new era of basketball for me personally and it should be fun”, said Durant, who has an opt out clause in his contract next season.

“But I am also at a point in my life where it is of equal importance to find an opportunity that encourages my evolution as a man: moving out of my comfort zone to a new city and community which offers the greatest potential for my contribution and personal growth. You can’t do any better than adding KD to the current crew”.

“We live in this superhero comic book world where either you’re a villain or a superhero”. “I went with my gut and my instincts and I trusted the situation”.

“It felt like they weren’t in the NBA”, Durant said. “And they’re in a playoff series, and I know there was some conversation around the Thunder team of, ‘Hey man, this guy (Green) kicked (Thunder big man) Steven Adams in the nuts twice in this series, and what are you doing hanging out with this guy?”

Durant, whose 27.4 points a game ranks as the third-best career average in National Basketball Association history, called telling the Thunder he was leaving “the toughest day of my life” and had trouble explaining himself to ex-teammate Russell Westbrook. I understand the fans in Oklahoma City and basketball fans around the world are, I guess, upset.

“I just want to enjoy every single day of it”. “He flew away from his family to come to the meeting and be a part of the meeting and that showed me how much he cared, how much he wanted me to be a part of it”. “Obviously we were teammates for so long and I had a lot of great memories”.

“In this life you tend to base things on the outside crowd and opinions of everybody else, so I tried not to worry about that and sit down and focus on what I wanted as a player and as a person, and I figured this was the best place for me”.

“Be selfish”, Pratt said he told his son.

You said you’re not gonna listen to the outside noise. It’s not like I play the same position as him and we have to figure out how we’re going to play together.
