Kevin Durant finalizes two-year deal with Warriors

“That’s the kind of feel that I wanted”. “I couldn’t consider totally everybody’s feelings at this point because it would be hard to, so I just tried to focus on me but also realize the relationships that I had I still wanted those to be – I’m sure they won’t be the same, but I still wanted to go out there and leave with some class and some dignity, but hopefully I did, hopefully he understands, and I’m sure we’ll talk again”. Going under the radar for most of the season, the team nearly managed to knock off the Warriors in the Western Conference Finals after defeating the San Antonio Spurs, who were widely favored to beat them. To put it simply, he joined a team that was slightly more stacked than his own to win a title. “We lost in the Finals”. Adding one of the best players in the National Basketball Association to (arguably) the greatest regular season team in National Basketball Association history. We want to be better.

To make things more terrifying, the Warriors will likely roll out a small-ball unit featuring Curry, Klay Thompson, Durant, Iguodala and Green that will be able to space the floor and switch on defense like no other five-man permutation in the league.

Curry texted Durant after the meeting and asked him to trust what the Warriors were saying in how they could all share the spotlight.

Of Warriors assistant coach and former member of the Thunder staff Ron Adams, he said, “Ron Adams was the only reason I came”. They shared a big hug before Thursday’s festivities.

Durant announced his decision Monday in a story on “The Players’ Tribune”, then Thursday marked the first day free agents could sign their deals.

Golden State Warriors players helped Kevin Durant overcome any apprehension about leaving the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Some negative news was released today about a lower projected salary cap for the 2017-2018 season, and it could impact the Warriors’ ability to re-sign Durant if he opts out next offseason.

That’s a concern for down the road, though, as the Warriors are doing everything in their power to win a championship this upcoming year. “I’ve admired Kevin as a basketball fan….”

“I’m so honored that you’re here, and I’m so honored you chose us to play for”, Myers told Durant.

“He knows who I am deep down inside”, Durant said about his dad to The Undefeated.

This, he said, is the harder route – “It was time for me to try something new, try a new challenge”. “No better place to do it than here”. The team had two superstar in Durant and Russell Westbrook and they did a lot to strengthen their team this offseason. “Tears were shed. I trusted my gut”, Durant said.

“We live in this superhero comic book world where either you’re a villain or you’re a superhero if you’re in this position, and I know that, and I know I haven’t changed as a person”. Do you want to make some extra money? The list includes NaVorro Bowman, who grew up playing basketball with Durant in the Washington D.C area. “I just felt like I wanted to be a part of it”.
