“I’m just thankful, man”.

“We going to be all right, man”. But so far so good.

Garnett departs as one of the league’s elder statesman. “His Minnesota fans will always cherish the memories he has provided.”.

The news comes with the Timberwolves first training camp under coach Tom Thibodeau set to begin on Tuesday.

MINNEAPOLIS – Kevin Garnett has made a decision to retire after 21 seasons in the National Basketball Association, leaving a legacy as one of the best defensive players in league history and one of the game’s most influential and intense competitors. That is the same approach the San Antonio Spurs took with Tim Duncan. He spent parts of 14 of those campaigns in Minnesota and another six in Boston, and he was a Brooklyn Net for a year-and-a-half. He was league MVP for the 2003-04 season, posting averages that year of 24.2 points, 13.9 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 2.2 blocks, and 1.6 steals and standing out as one of the NBA’s most versatile, if not versatile players of the time.

Garnett was drafted out of high school in 1995 and became one of the most accomplished power forwards in league history, helping make the long-suffering Timberwolves into playoff contenders.

Aside from his physical abilities, Garnett was also known for his unmatched intensity. “But when that changes, it”™s pretty easy to move on.”. Garnett was encouraged by friend, confidant and former coach Flip Saunders to sign a two-year, $16 million contract with the Timberwolves in 2015.

Boston Celtics co-owner Wyc Grousbeck said that the moment Garnett arrived in Boston he knew the team would reach the National Basketball Association finals due to Garnett being a relentless competitor and an excellent teammate.
