Kevin Garnett Retiring After 21 Seasons In NBA

“I can”™t ever put that into words.

“Thank you for teaching me”.

This is all just to say that the complete picture of KG has always featured two sides-even for his teammates.

“We going to be all right, man”. The decision was considered a risk at the time, but Garnett’s success paved the way for Kobe Bryant, LeBron James and Tracy McGrady to follow him.

The long-time Minnesota Timberwolves forward is regarded as one of the best defensive players in league history. That started a trend, until the league ruled that players must spend at least one-year in college. The Wolves chose him with the fifth overall pick in the 1995 draft. During his prime, Garnett averaged more than 20 points, 10 rebounds and over a block and steal per game for nine consecutive seasons.

In more than two decades in the NBA, Garnett opened the door for a new wave of young talent to enter the league, was partly responsible for a rewriting of the collective bargaining agreement and almost singlehandedly redefined what the game’s tallest players were allowed to do on the court.

Although Garnett never won a championship with the Wolves, his late-career role as a mentor to young players could finally prove that anything is possible in Minnesota.

Garnett, who waived his no-trade clause in order to reunite with the Timberwolves in February 2015, will not play out the second year of his two-year, $16.5-million contract.

In 2007, Garnett moved to the Boston Celtics after 12 years with the Timberwolves, forming the Big Three with superstars Ray Allen and Paul Pierce.

Garnett posted the video on Friday, four days before the Minnesota Timberwolves are set to open training camp.

“He was obviously great defensively, but he was so unselfish”, Thibodeau said. He knew when to shoot and he knew when to pass. On Friday, it was confirmed that “The Big Ticket” will retire after 21 National Basketball Association seasons with three teams. I think he realized, “Why am I doing this?’ “I would have absolutely been interested in bringing him here. But it was Kevin’s willingness to sacrifice that really, I thought, led us to that championship”.

After taking his talents to the Brooklyn Nets for two seasons, Garnett returned to the team that drafted him in February 2015 to join his first National Basketball Association head coach, Flip Saunders, in Minnesota.
