Kevin Harlan gives fan on field Super Bowl play-by-play call

It is wonderful. But no one should be forced to watch what we saw on Monday night. “We got the shutout”.

The fan running on the field came with the 49ers holding a 21-0 lead in the fourth quarter. Todd Gurley couldn’t find any room to run either, gaining just 47 yards on 17 carries.

“I definitely feel betrayed”, said 66-year-old Buzz Webb.

“This team deserved better play from its quarterback and I intend on doing that, ” Keenum said.

Keenum, who completed 18 of his 24 passes and didn’t commit a turnover in the preseason, said Monday’s game “will not define me”. This was not a good night for the Rams and now there are going to be a lot of questions going forward. We’ve got a long season ahead of us. This is not us, offensively. “This is not us”.

Top overall draft pick Jared Goff wasn’t even in uniform Monday night.

Against a questionable 49ers defense, Keenum couldn’t muster anything. “We did a great job”.

After Week 1, we can only evaluate football teams based on what we have seen. Chris Long looked fine at New England Sunday night, and Jim Laurinaitis was the Saints’ second-leading tackler.

“It’s embarrassing definitely for us to go out there and not put any points on the board”, Gurley said. They were unable to accomplish any of their tasks on a night where they were facing one of the weaker teams that they’ll face all season.

It was a peaceable, at times boring opener, and if you think it means the 49ers are all set for greatness, well, maybe you should wait at least a week or two.

What’s most impressive about Chip Kelly’s first win in San Francisco is the internal odds the 49ers overcame. That is until Keenum threw an interception which killed all the momentum which the Rams had built up. Gabbert finished 22 for 35 for 170 yards and the TD.

Hyde capped an 80-yard drive with a 1-yard touchdown run with 5:14 left.

Blew away the Rams’ excellent defensive line in the first half, and made All-Pro defensive tackle Aaron Donald quit in the fourth quarter. It’s us against the world.

The 49ers drove 52 yards on 10 plays for their first score under Kelly.

Quarterback Blaine Gabbert gained 43 yards on nine carries. Two of those touchdowns came on runs from Carlos Hyde, also had two rushing touchdowns in last season’s 20-3 opening win over the Minnesota Vikings.

On Monday, Gurley was the focus of the 49ers’ defensive game plan.

The Rams’ Case Keenum was even shakier, with No. 1 overall pick Jared Goff not even in uniform for this game (though I can not imagine Goff will be held out for much longer after Keenum’s debacle). The Rams struggled to move the offense, linebacker NaVorro Bowman marshalling the San Francisco defense and neutralising any attacks. FS Eric Reid kneeled during the anthem for the second straight game. Rams defensive lineman Robert Quinn and receiver Kenny Britt and Niners linebacker Eli Harold and safety Antoine Bethea all held up their fists in protest. 49ers WR Chris Harper was promoted to the 53-man roster from the practice squad, and RB DuJuan Harris was released.

The best play calling from Monday Night Football had nothing to do with the game
