Kevin Harvick signs extension with Stewart-Haas Racing
Kasey Kahne’s No. 5 vehicle had been reported as Harvick’s potential destination, and it bothered Harvick enough that he spoke to Kahne and cleared the air in early March at Phoenix International Raceway. “With all the changes in the sport, changes on the team, changes with sponsors who wanted to do things further, we sat back and said, ‘Let’s mutually agree to forget that contract and restructure everything.’ I know scuttlebutt affects the guys in the shop a lot more than it affects me”. “I told him, there’s not been one person to call me from your organization. What has better information about things I do”, he tweeted on Tuesday.

“I told him what I was doing, how it would go”. “To be able to give Gene (Haas) his first win, especially in that fashion, to win a $1 million payday and see him in victory lane was the most gratifying part of it. It was cool to win it, but to win it for Gene was the ultimate perk of the whole weekend, to see him smiling, finally seeing the results for all his hard work over the years”.
With Kahne seemingly facing an uncertain future and Harvick believed to be unhappy with SHR’s switching manufacturers, Harvick thought Kahne should know that despite rumors to the contrary, he wasn’t set to sign with Hendrick. Harvick won three races a year ago and earned career-best numbers in top-five finishes (23), top 10s (28) and laps led (2,294) before finishing second in the championship.Harvick has one win this season, five top-fives, nine top-10s and 688 laps led in the 12 Sprint Cup races. When you have talented people who consistently deliver results, you hold on to them, Haas said. “Unfortunately, it just turned into a spiraling, out-of-control rumor”.
Stewart, who has not won a Cup race since 2013, is eligible for the all-star race based on his 2009 win, which came in his first season as an owner-driver for Stewart-Haas Racing.

Stewart will serve as the grand marshal of the Sprint All-Star Race and give the command to fire engines from inside his vehicle. You feel like you are making up for lost time. “I’m not going to commit to quit too soon”.
