The PGA Tour makes the trip to Quail Hollow this week for the Wells Fargo Championship.

According to oddsmkers from Bovada.lv, Rory McIlroy is favored to win this tournament, as he has 9/2 odds to win. While Rickie Fowler (14/1) and Adam Scott (18/1) will also be well fancied.
Four-time major victor McIlroy is the world number three, but he needs to kick-start his season with the U.S. Open just weeks away. Despite last year’s huge win, this tourney is typically close, and in its 13 years of existence, there has been six playoffs and another two conclusions determined by a single stroke.
McIlroy headlines this week’s field, which includes a total of eight of the top 12 golfers in the Official World Golf Ranking. On Quail Hollow Club, Chappell has made the cut in four of his five appearances and has a couple of top-20 finishes. It’s a bit of a risky play considering he only has three top 25s in 2015-16, but if he’s ever going to break out of his funk, there’s a good chance this will be the place. He has finished outside the top 10 in his last three tournaments.
Phil Mickelson has a great record in this event but missed cuts in his last two starts this season are a concern.
14 -… of the top 30 players in the world are teeing it up this week (including 11 with wins on the PGA Tour this season).
We’re on the site of first PGA Tour wins for Fowler, McIlroy and Anthony Kim, so it’s tempting to look for the next young superstar still seeking a breakthrough title but Daniel Berger looks short enough, as does Bryson DeChambeau despite the likelihood that he matches the exploits of those mentioned in time. The Wells Fargo Championship takes place Thursday-Sunday from Quail Hollow in Charlotte, NC.
