Kevin White Injury Saga and More — Chicago Bears News

The Bears also are without starting receiver Alshon Jeffery because of a calf strain. But when the pain returned early this week, the Bears rookie receiver knew he had to tell general manager Ryan Pace.

White’s great speed and Jeffery’s athleticism are sorely missed. While it is only one game against inferior competition, Meredith fared well Thursday night.

“It’s part of the business”, Cutler said. “This guy’s a big commodity for us”. We’re comfortable with Marquess over there. “We just have to get him healthy”.

The news comes two days after starting tight end Niles Paul broke his ankle in Thursday night’s preseason opener against the Cleveland Browns. We’ve got enough to work with. Chicago will then have until their 11th game to active him, or place him on IR. Honestly, is there a chance that he misses the season? I want to be practicing tomorrow.

The shin injury of Kevin White opens the door for someone to step up.

While White was seemingly on the verge of working his way off the PUP list recently, Pace confirmed the talented receiver suffered a setback, per Campbell.

Unfortunately for White, the Bears and their fans, the wait to see him in game action will continue for at least a couple of more months.

White was wrapped in cotton wool and spoke about a swift return.

“I just got pain in that spot again”, he said. “I’m not ignorant about the situation”. The surgery will involve inserting a rod in the tibia, a procedure that Bears wide receiver/returner Marc Mariani has had performed successfully. Mariani once had a similar surgery. The hope then was that it did not require surgery and would heal on its own. We’re progressing. We’re good. “Our whole focus is his long-term health”.

[MORE BEARS: Adam Gase has these Bears on the run, in more ways than one]. “I want to go out there and be myself”, he said.

“To me, it was kind of black and white”.

“I feel I can play”, he continued.

Veteran coach John Fox knows that it’s not easy for young players like White to deal with such dire injury news. You keep 53 men on the roster and you keep them for a reason; because you think they can play. A lot of times they do.
