Key and Peele are Super Bowl ‘experts’ in Squarespace’s commercial
Key and Peele will make an appearance at the Super Bowl – and it’s not just in a commercial. Yesterday, the announcement was made with a couple trailers and previews of the coverage.

This year’s Super Bowl spot will be one of Squarespace’s first ads since hiring NY agency Anomaly to build campaigns around “cultural tentpoles”, including events like Sunday’s game and the Oscars. The duo are familiar with providing in-character commentary, having once done so for their own sketch show in its early days. Last year, Key and Peele hosted a Super Bowl comedy special on Comedy Central the Friday before the game.

They will remind you of some other characters – like Key’s Devon, or maybe a slightly toned down version of the “Valets”. Except, because of National Football League regulations, they’re not allowed to say the words “Super Bowl”. They’re debuting two new characters, Lee and Morris, who are apparently two Atlanta sportscasters who will do their best to work around the NFL’s notoriously stingy trademarks and copyrights. “We’re just really big fans of theirs from a creative standpoint so it should be really exciting”. The pair will also star in a 30-second, traditional spot for the website-building company (embedded above) dubbed Successes, but muting CBS’ team of Jim Nantz and Phil Simms and letting the comedians call the action is all we can seem to think about.
