The sixth Republican debate, at the North Charleston Coliseum in the swing state of SC, takes place at a tense time for the Republican field with the clock ticking toward February 1 in Iowa, which holds the first contest in the race to choose the party’s nominee for the November 8 general election.

“Yes, I made a paperwork error disclosing it on one piece of paper instead of the other”.

They also had an exchange over Cruz’s accusation that Trump embodies “New York value”.

“And I have to tell you, that was a very insulting statement that Ted made”.

Haley noted in an interview Wednesday that she disagreed with other candidates, too: She was against ultimately doomed immigration legislation that Sen.

Rubio said Christie “endorsed numerous ideas” that the president supports.

Cruz, a U.S. Senator from Texas who was born to a U.S. citizen mother and Cuban father in Calgary, Alberta, has brushed aside the attacks about his eligibility as pure politics.

Case and point: Thursday night’s GOP presidential debate on Fox Business Network, where both businessman Donald Trump and Florida Sen.

Mr Cruz has steered clear of criticising Mr Trump during his rise to the top of the national polls, but that ended during Thursday’s debate. But, as the visualization below shows, much of the debate was dedicated to candidates defending their personal records and addressing the records of their competitors.

Cruz, once a champion debater parried effectively, declaring that the legal question was settled (in fact some prominent scholars suggest otherwise) and adding a jab of his own.

Rubio and Christie are among the candidates seeking to break out of the establishment pack, particularly in the New Hampshire primary, which quickly follows the leadoff Iowa caucuses.

“Back in September, my friend Donald said that he had his lawyers look at this from every which way and there was nothing to do this”, Cruz said. “I will gladly accept the mantle of anger”. “Now since September, the Constitution hasn’t changed, but the poll numbers have”. “When you’re a senator what you get to do is talk and talk and talk and no one can keep up to see if what you’re saying is accurate or not”, Christie said. “But we don’t want to put everybody in the same category”.

The other contenders were trying to focus their attention on attacking president Barack Obama. The former Florida governor said Clinton would be a “national security disaster” who might be shuttling “between the White House and the courthouse”. Rubio went after Christie. “There is a big question mark on your head”, Trump said.

According to data collected by the InsideGov team, those two candidates – plus New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, who also had a strong showing on Thursday – spoke the most during the debate.

Rand Paul, who was dropped from the prime-time lineup at 9 p.m. and refused to appear on the earlier forum. The next debate is scheduled for January 28th in Des Moines, Iowa and will air on the FOX News channel.
